- Dough
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 6 tablesppons shortening or butter
- 1 egg
- 5 – 6 apples or more peeled & diced
- Syrup
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Dough
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
- Incorporate shortening or butter.
- Mix together into pea size crumbs.
- Beat together eggs, sugar milk.
- Pour wet mix over dry ingredients while stirring with a fork to form a soft dough[this preparation can also be made using a culinary robot].
- Knead dough on floured surface for 10 secondes.
- Divide and roll dough into 6 squares.
- Evenly distribute diced apples on the 6 dough squares.
- Sprinkle a little sugar and cinnamon om apples.
- Dampen corners and fold towards center. Seal well.
- Place on buttered 9″ x 13″ baking sheet.
- Pour syrup around turnovers.
- Preheat oven at 400°F and bake for 25 à 30 minutes.
- Syrup
- Mix (reserve butter) ingredients together.
- Bring to gentle boil for 7 minutes.
- Remove from stove and add butter.
